최근 모습을 드러내는 하이엔드급 아파트들에는 공통점이 있다. Green, 식물이다. 아파트들이 만들어지는 위치적, 구조적 특성 때문에 기존에는 담아내기 힘들었던 자연을 각 세대에 독립적으로 제공하려고 노력하고 있다. 기술의 편리함 속에 당연히 포기해야 했던 개인 정원을 하이엔드 아파트에서는 가질 수 있다.
TEL AVIV ARCADES는 Penda(Chris Precht and Dayong Sun)라는 건축회사에서 이스라엘 Tel Aviv 지역에 만든 아파트로 Green Architecture (Sustainable Architecture)를 구현한 건축물이다.

그린 건축이란
그린 건축(Green Architecture 또는 Sustainable Architecture)은 건축물이 환경에 미치는 영향, 피해를 최소화하며, 건축 자재의 재사용과 에너지 효율에 대해 고민하며 만들어진 건축물을 말한다. 그래서 사용된 자재도 특별하며, 좀 더 자연에 가까운 인위적인 건축물을 만들기 위해 나무와 식물을 많이 활용한다.

건물을 감싸는 듯 많은 양의 식물을 사용하는 것이 특징이며, TEL AVIV ARCADES 또한 개인 정원과 그 정원에 맞는 많은 식물을 배치해 아파트 건물을 좀 더 특별하게 만드는데 중점을 두었다.

TEL AVIV ARCADES의 특별함은 역시 외관 디자인이다. 각 세대의 정원과 정원이 만나는 면을 이어 만든 사각별 모양의 입면은 아파트에 특별함을 부여하면서, 동시에 태양광을 차단하고 각각의 정원이 서로 영향을 받지 않게 가려주는 역할을 한다.

외간재와 내재의 통일
외간재를 내부에 사용한 것도 눈에 띈다. 영어권 나라에서는 흔히 볼 수 있는 마감으로 생활 공간을 좀 더 자유롭게 만들어 준다. 벽면에 거친 느낌을 입혔다면, 바닥은 목재를 사용해 부드러움과 아늑함을 심었다. 전혀 다른 성격의 두 재료가 한 공간에 배치되면서 국내 아파트에서는 느낄 수 없는 분위기의 생활 공간을 만들어 내고 있다.

3면이 창인 아파트? 가능하네!
독특한 건물 구조로 인해 거실의 3면이 외부 공간과 연결되어 있다. 개인 정원과 테라스 등으로 사용되는 외부 공간으로 인해 이웃집을 신경쓰지 않고도 상당히 개방적인 욕실에서도 다른 시선을 신경쓰지 않고 샤워나 목욕을 즐길 수 있다.
